Deirdre and Nell’s VBAC Birth

Hi Lainey

Sorry it has taken me so long to get to this but the love bubble took over!!

Baby Nell arrived almost 2 weeks ago @ 40 weeks. I got the vbac I wanted so much

I had brilliant support from my partner, consultant and the midwives, they really got me through even when I started to doubt myself. I laboured at home for 2 days prior which was empowering on one hand and deflating on the other when I felt I wasn’t making good progress. (first baby was a planned section due to breech so this was essentially my first Labour).

There’s a very real reason it’s called Labour!!!  When I went for check up on the Wednesday am with consultant I was feeling a bit bereft and tired from the previous couple of days at home and was expecting to hear I wasn’t making progress. But I was 3-4 cm dilated and was sent straight up to the delivery suite - this was around 11am and Nell was born at 4pm.

Massive thank you for the Pregnancy Yoga, the aromatherapy oils and the affirmations - it was a huge part of helping me mentally prepare and get my mindset really strong and positive.

I’m so delighted and proud - my experience this time round couldn’t be more different (same glorious outcome of course with a healthy baba) but the journey and the recovery feels so very different.

Recovering really well, tired of course, couple of stitches that are healing well but otherwise great - milk came in quickly and she’s a guzzler so that’s going really well too!

The affirmations were really helpful, particularly as I got so tired and deflated labouring at home - they helped me focus but also my partner used them to remind me what I wanted when things got hard, a drug free VBAC and that was really grounding.

Happy for you to share the story and many thanks again,

D xxxx
