Birth Stories

Martha and Gabi’s Birth Story

Hi everyone, baby Gabi arrived early Thursday morning. She is just perfect and we are in love. I started labour at 6ish on Wednesday and although surges were tough and coming very close together breathing really anchored me the whole way through.

I had told my partner to keep reminding me to relax my jaw, face and body which I really needed the help with on the day. I listened to the hypnobirthing affirmations on repeat the whole way through ( god help everyone else!!) and the tens was a good distraction.

Lainey's Labour spray was a great anchor as well and helped me remember all your advice so thank you Lainey. 💓

I got to use the labour pool for a bit but i prefered the ball and rebozo to help with the pressure of surges. I tried pushing on all fours on the bed (which felt more like a reflex than me doing it) but unfortunately she was looking to the left and not making it down.

The oxytocin was unsuccessful in helping her down and she was getting a bit distressed so we had to have her ventoused. I was exhausted by the end but I felt happy and informed with every decision.

The midwives and doctors in Holles st were amazing. I cant wait to start baby massage with her. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and advice along the way. I have so much admiration for women now and you really have to go through it to understand.

Good luck to all the mamas to be, it is worth every second 💕🌸

No epidural. I just didn't feel right about it after my research. Breathing was the best tool but I was finding it hard to relax my body naturally but thankfully my husband and midwife kept reminding me! Your tip of going with what feels right for your body in the moment for sure. I found listening to affirmations so helpful too!

I think the biggest tip is being well educated and informed so you can be happy with your decisions!

On joining Baby Massage..

Martha’s experience on joining baby massage when Gabi was just 2 weeks old and she explains while she didn’t get much massage done as baby fed or slept those early weeks, she benefited from getting out of the house, having her partner drive her while he was on paternity leave and gained confidence and new friendships that are still going today

I decided to start baby massage when my little girl was just two weeks old. I absolutely loved it, Gabi loved it too but got a bit hungry half way through so we only got one leg done on the first class! It gave me a reason early to start getting out and the more I did the more confident I got.

Everyone was so lovely and really nice to chat to other mums!

Even though my little girl was a bit small for it i dont regret joining early- I developed skills I am using now and the biggest benefit was being in a supportive and caring environment with Lainey and the other mums. The oil really helped her dry skin too!

I did pregnancy yoga and baby yoga with Lainey too and I can't recommend her classes highly enough. She has a wealth of knowledge and a wonderful insight as a mamma herself.

Fab classes that I would never forget  💗
