Hi Elaine, firstly, apologies for not returning to class last week – I reckon my body was in prep mode for what was about to happen! We predicted an early arrival for our baby, and we were absolutely spot on!! Baby Katie arrived into the world very gently on Sunday evening at 6.25pm, weighing a tiny 5lbs 13oz, following a very positive induction.
A question mark over leaking waters Saturday morning, meant I consented to ARM and a drip, but I mobilised the whole time, using my ball and some yoga positions. I also requested wireless monitoring, which was a God’s send.
I am thrilled to say I managed with no pain relief, just the Tens machine and my hypnobirthing, Gentlebirth and yoga breathing techniques! Katie arrived very quickly in the end, but I had no perineum damage. Cannot describe the feeling, just total empowerment!
I just wanted to let you know, as I really enjoyed my classes with you, and was looking forward to a few more before baby arrived, but Katie had other plans!
We are absolutely besotted with her, she is beyond perfect, a little tiny doll who has captured her Mammy and Daddy’s hearts 💗 I’ve added a few pictures to help get the oxytocin going for anybody who needs it in class.
My tip is: just because something doesn’t go to plan, doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. I had planned on birthing in the pool, but because of the leaking waters, induction was the best option and the safest thing for me and for Katie. I had a little wobbler, as I was convinced that I wouldn’t be able to move/I’d be confined to the bed/I would need an epidural/wouldn’t be able to enjoy the birth, but there was a reason for all of this happening, and at the end of the day, we got to meet this beautiful little lady!!! 😍 (and I was able to do the majority of the things I had planned to do – except use the pool – but sure, there’s always next time!!)
Best of luck to all the YogaMammas, your body is an amazing thing, capable of more than you can even imagine 😘
Thanks again for everything Elaine and we will see you soon in Baby Massage 👶💗🎀
